Nutrition consultations with Registered Dietitians are available to all patients seen at the Stanford Digestive Health Center. Registered Dietitians are the nutrition experts that translate the science of nutrition into well balanced food choices for good health.

Care and Treatment
Nutrition Services at the Digestive Health Center
Our Certified Nutrition Support Clinicians at the Digestive Health Center provide medical nutrition therapy, which is nutrition counseling for the purpose of symptom and disease management. Your dietitian works closely with the physicians to provide optimal nutrition care to aid in the treatment of digestive disorders.
During your consultation, we provide:
- A full nutritional evaluation
- A nutrition plan of care that is based on your symptoms and diagnosis
- Education and handouts on specific nutrition guidelines
- Strategies to help counteract your personal nutritional issues
- Follow up appointments are recommended to help monitor your progress.
For Patients
The Stanford Department of Clinical Nutrition staffs registered dietitians to provide medical nutrition therapy for adult ambulatory care patients. Simply ask your doctor to complete a referral to a dietitian.

- Patients may want to check with their insurance companies to determine if medical nutrition therapy is a covered benefit.
