Kafunyi Mwamba
Volunteer Coordinator and Palliative Medicine Chaplain
Kafunyi Mwamba is a Board-Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains with several certificates in Palliative Care. He is a PhD Candidate in Palliative Care with Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. He completed six units of Clinical Pastoral Education at Cleveland Clinic, VA Cleveland and Geisinger Medical Center. He worked for three years as a Palliative Care Chaplain at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, California. He emigrated to the United States in the late 1990s from the Democratic Republic of Congo to earn a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry at seminary schools in New York and Ohio.
Anna Nikitina
Palliative Care and ICU Chaplain
Chaplain Anna Nikitina came to Stanford Health Care with years of experience working with diverse populations of patients. She was born in Russia where she majored in Civil Law (Legal Studies). She obtained a Master of Divinity degree at Torch Trinity Graduate School of Theology in South Korea. Anna completed a Clinical Pastoral Education program at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, San Francisco. She came to serve the Cancer Center South Bay after six years as a staff chaplain at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, California. Anna Nikitina is a Board Certified Chaplain by the Association of Professional Chaplains. She is a member of the Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology and Religion. Anna worked primarily with the Palliative Medicine team at Cancer Center South Bay for two years and has now joined the inpatient Palliative Care team. She will also provide care for the patients and families in two of our ICUs. Her professional interests include researching the subject of resilience and providing support to caregivers.
