Spiritual Care Services provides spiritual support.
Whether you are a Stanford Health Care patient, family member, friend or staff member, Spiritual Care Services is here to compassionately accompany you with:

- Connecting you to your religious or spiritual tradition through our staff, volunteers and referrals to community resources
Supportive visits and religious assistance
Supportive visits by chaplains and volunteers:
- Eucharistic (and other sacramental) ministry
- Religious community-based support is available through staff and volunteers for several religious traditions:

Through its chaplaincies and faith groups, the Spiritual Care Services sponsors several holiday observances each year.

The Chapel
Visit our chapel
Located near the entrance of the D1 unit on the first floor of the hospital, this interfaith chapel is a peaceful place to reflect and pray. It contains sacred writings and prayer books of several faith traditions, as well as a fountain to help calm your spirit.
Spiritual care volunteers
The Spiritual Care Services has 200 volunteers to assist the staff in providing spiritual care and support.
The volunteers are interfaith and include members from Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, and Sikh traditions. The Rev. John P. Hester coordinates the volunteer program.

Clinical Pastoral Education
The Spiritual Care Service is accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education to provide training programs in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) for clergy and seminary graduates. Four programs are offered: a summer internship, the year-long residency, second-year specialization, and supervisory training.
