Stop the Bleed
Stop the Bleed is a nationwide program designed to empower civilian bystanders to act quickly and save lives.
Designed by a world-class team of government and health care individuals following the events at Sandy Hook Elementary, this group created a protocol to enhance survivorability in the event of a mass casualty. The resulting injuries from these events generally present with severe bleeding which, if left unattended, can result in death.
The Stop the Bleed program identified simple techniques that have been developed to have a big impact on saving lives, similar to the memorable techniques taught for CPR or the Heimlich maneuver.
Stanford Medicine Brings the Stop the Bleed Campaign to Our Local Community
Join us for a 1-hour training taught by Stanford Trauma faculty and staff on techniques to quickly control massive bleeding until first responders arrive on-site.
Learn how to use pressure, packing or a tourniquet during our session.
Individuals eligible for training through the program include business leaders, school students and staff, first-arriving responders, security officers, and any interested adult residents throughout the Peninsula and South Bay.
For more information and to schedule a training session, please email stanfordtrauma@stanfordhealthcare.org and enter "Stop the Bleed" in the subject line.
